Competitions and Achievements
We love celebrating our pupils' amazing achievements and hard work. This is the place to find all the latest news on our children's successes, from academic triumphs to sporting victories and everything in between.
If You Were An Engineer - Primary Engineer STEM Competition
At our school, we love to embrace science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects and the “If You Were An Engineer” competition was the perfect opportunity to open our children's eyes to the vast range of engineering careers out there.
As part of the project, the children were invited to watch a webinar with a real engineer from the industry. This year, we decided to be inspired by Ella Podmore, a materials engineer for McLaren. The children heard all about what engineers do and how they go about solving problems in the world around us. They then had to think of a problem in their own lives, and invent things to help solve it. This was a cross-curricular project, as they then had to write a pitch letter, explaining the benefits of their invention.
At the award ceremony, the children had the chance to discuss their inventions with real engineers. One parent said “We were bowled over by so many inventive designs and even a couple being turned into prototypes by the university and Thales engineers.” What a truly inspirational experience for all involved.
A Royal Endorsement
We were thrilled beyond belief to receive letters from HRH King Charles and Sir David Attenborough recognising the children’s amazing school projects and hard work. The children worked hard and were so enthusiastic about their projects, it's incredible to have their efforts recognised by two such inspirational figures. It is one of those memories they will treasure forever.
