Remote Learning

Remote education will be used as a last resort when the alternative would be no education, and only after it has been established that children are, or will be, absent from school. It should not be viewed as an equal alternative to attendance in school.

Remote learning will therefore be put in place when in-person attendance is not possible due to exceptional circumstances such as severe weather.

Children absent from school and receiving remote education must still be marked as absent in the register.

We aim to provide high quality, meaningful, ambitious activities, and cover an appropriate range of subjects to enable children to keep on track with their education.

Where pupils have access to appropriate devices, remote education may include recorded and / or live direct teaching time, as well as time for children to complete tasks, reading, and assignments independently, depending on their age and stage of development.

Our plans for the provision of remote education in the event of a class or whole school closure are as follows.

  • Work will be sent home each day via Class Dojo . We endeavour to teach the same curriculum remotely as in school wherever possible and appropriate; however, some adaptions may be needed in some subjects.
  • Teachers will monitor pupil engagement and follow up with parents if a child does not participate in remote learning.
  • If access to a device or the internet is a barrier to remote learning, please contact the school for support with loaned devices or printed materials.

Remote provision is not provided for children who are unwell or taking unauthorised absence from learning.
