Absence

If your child is unwell please contact the school on 01403 891263.

It would be helpful if a message is left on the answerphone before 8.45 a.m. but please ensure you have notified us of your child's absence no later that 9.10a.m. as that is when the registers are closed. The answerphone is available 24 hours a day so a message can be left at any time.

The law requires parents to make sure their children receive a full-time education suitable to their needs. Requests for absence for family holidays can no longer be authorised. Leave of absence may only be granted in exceptional circumstances.

Requests for holiday or other unacceptable reasons for absence will be classed as unauthorised.  If a child's level of unauthorised absence builds up to over five full days, the headteacher may ask the Local Authority to issue a Fixed Penalty Notice and fine.

Please download Request for Absence here.

Pupils are only in school for 190 days each year.

There are 175 other days for holidays and other activities.

80% attendance represents 1 day off every week.

90% attendance represents 1 day off each fortnight.

We expect attendance to be 95% or above for every child.
